Our conviction

Survivors are not only recipients of support. They are leaders, storytellers, and contributors to healing, reconciliation, and locally owned change.

Who we are

Led by the people who carry the experience.

MAANKAAL Institute is an emerging Somali, survivor-led, non-profit media and peacebuilding think tank based in Mogadishu. It exists to turn lived experience of conflict and climate disaster into healing, dialogue and locally owned solutions.

We are a community-based organisation that complements, and never substitutes for, formal mental-health, protection, health and social-support systems.
